Dear Brothers and Friends:

You all know my Alchemy and Spagyrics URL’s that have been done, in several languages, with the kind help of some brothers and friends in many parts of the world. The question I propose to answer here is what motivated me to do this?

My reason is simple. I have studied Alchemy for many years using the best treatises of the great Masters. From doing so, I know the enormous difficulties that one has to face while walking the long and thorny path through the labyrinth of Alchemical literature.

To try to minimize this difficulty for you, I have described in this and the other URL’s the best texts, explaining the meanings of their symbolism, and the methods that they used, as well as the suitable ‘matters’ that they employed in their methods. I have illustrated these explanations in images, the majority of which are in colour.

Therefore you have here a precious source of information that will allow you to overcome these difficulties and penetrate the mysteries in the texts written by both classical and modern authors. I have also given considerable information about the vessels, salts and other accessories that will allow you to begin the work.

In the practice of Alchemy, it isn’t easy to get the correct results of the operations, even with clear descriptions in plain language. Something else is needed: the charitable hand of a Master or brother in the art. That is the help that I intend to give to those who deserve it.

To facilitate your study of Alchemy, I began with vegetable Spagyrics followed by the metallic and mineral work.

I have described in minute detail operations from the most elementary to the most complicated, the ovens, the vessels, the salts and their canonical preparation and other matters. With some ability and motivation, you will be able to easily do some of the basic operations. This will not happen with the more complicated workings.

In the beginning it will seem that the most elementary operations, such as a distillation, will be extremely easy. This is a mistake, and you will understand why once you ‘get your hands into it’.

I was fortunate to have had a Master and an instructor that gave me verbal and direct teaching on these matters which I write about, but it was also thanks to study, perseverance and a lot of hard work that I have been able to continue and gain the experience that I am passing on to you.

Like many of the modern and contemporary Alchemists like Fulcanelli, Canseliet, Athorene, Solazaref and others, I have not yet achieved the Great Alchemic Work. I don’t know if I will achieve it in the years that remain of my terrestrial existence.

Therefore, I wish with my whole heart for the brothers truly interested in our Art, the success they deserve. I give to you herein my modest contribution. But, as our Masters of old have told us, that success will only be achieved by working arduously, vigilantly and with perseverance.

Rubellus Petrinus
