"O Menino Triste" is a comic character created by J.Mascarenhas. Two books have been published so far.
Amongst the different projects for this character, there is one dealing with the creation of 3D objects, which is going to be described here.
So, starting from the 2D drawings, 3D models have been created using the Cinema4D software.
Then, *.stl files have been generated (this are files used in rapid prototyping technologies- RP), and sent to a RP machine, where the 3D object was then built. The RP machine "slices" the object to be built, in thin layers:
Then, "reads" each layer and just like a printer, starts to build the object layer by layer:
And keeps going on, stacking the next layers:
And finally, the object is ready:
The object can be used as finished, or painted and decorated.
This one here is going to be used on a diorama, for a Comic Festival.
