Requirements
First try the program - if it works fine, don’t bother with these. If it doesn’t, read on…
This has been known to work with Microsoft Word 2002 (Office XP), Word 2003, and there is hope that it will now work with Word 2007. It should work with subsequent versions. Also, I tried with an English version of Word - it should work with other languages, but sometimes this isn’t that simple. Let me know what happens, if you try it in other versions - even if it works.
If you don't have Microsoft Word, none of this will work, just forget it. If you have the wrong version, all sorts of unexpected things can happen - mostly VBA errors.
You should have Dropbook version 1.5.2 or greater installed somewhere in your computer. If you didn’t get that executable when you downloaded the macro, you can always download it from Palm Digital Media.
If you don't have Dropbook, the macro will generate PML correctly, but it won't be able to convert it to an eBook with .pdb extension.
The macro must know where the executable is stored. It will first try to find Dropbook*.exe in the same folder as the macro, then in your “Program Files” folder, under Dropbook*.exe. If it is somewhere else, you can always press the Browse button to specify where the executable is.
If you don't get this right, you'll see the location box empty, or with its contents in red.
The version of eReader I use is 2.5.3, on a Palm Zire 21. Anyway, this should work on any other Palm OS or Pocket PC running eReader 2.5.3 or newer, and probably on older versions too, but some document features might cause trouble. Use the eReader link on the right sidebar to donwload the latest version.
If you don't have eReader, you will be able to produce the eBooks on your PC, but you won't be able to read them on your PDA. You can always e-mail them to your friends...
